Welcome to Leigh St Peter’s CE Primary School.

At Leigh St Peter’s CE Primary School, we are committed to providing an exceptional education within a distinctively Christian environment, where every child is known, valued and inspired to flourish. Guided by our Christian faith, we seek to ensure that our pupils are “living life in all its fullness” (John 10:10) and are encouraged to “let their LIGHT shine” (Matthew 5:16) in all that they do.

We are a school of high expectations and high standards. We believe that every child, regardless of background or starting point, can achieve academic success when provided with excellent teaching, strong support and ambitious opportunities. We maintain a relentless focus on learning, achievement and personal development, ensuring that all pupils are challenged to reach their full potential.

Alongside our commitment to academic excellence, we have zero tolerance for behaviour that falls below our expectations. We are proud of our calm, safe and purposeful learning environment where children demonstrate respect, responsibility and kindness. Our school rules and routines are explicitly taught, consistently reinforced and unwaveringly upheld. As a result, classrooms are disruption-free, pupils feel safe, and teachers are able to focus on delivering exceptional learning experiences every day.

As a happy and diverse school serving the Leigh community, our dedicated staff work tirelessly to deliver excellent teaching and learning. Through expert professional development, including research-informed training delivered through Steplab, our teachers continually refine their practice to ensure that every lesson is engaging, inclusive and highly effective. Our carefully designed PKC curriculum provides children with the powerful knowledge and essential skills they need to succeed academically, while nurturing curiosity, creativity and character. This commitment to excellence is reflected in our outcomes, with pupils achieving above national averages in both the KS1 Phonics Screening Check and KS2 SATs assessments.

We are equally proud of our strong attendance culture. Excellent attendance is fundamental to academic success, and we work closely with families to promote the importance of being in school every day. Our attendance rates remain strong, and our persistent absence figures are significantly below national averages. Children enjoy coming to school because they feel valued, challenged and inspired, and we are clear in our expectation that every child attends school every day unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Strong partnerships with parents and carers are central to our success. By working together, we create a nurturing yet ambitious environment where children thrive academically, socially and spiritually. We want every child to leave Leigh St Peter’s with excellent knowledge, strong character, high aspirations and the confidence to make a positive contribution to their community and to glorify God through their actions.
