Wigan Safeguarding Duty Team:
The Wigan Safeguarding Duty Team provides advice, support and intervention for children, young people and families where there are concerns about a child’s safety, welfare or wellbeing. The team works alongside schools, health services, police and other agencies to ensure that children receive the right help at the right time.
If there are concerns that a child may be at risk of harm, neglect or abuse, the Duty Team assesses the information provided and determines the most appropriate course of action. This may include offering early help and support, undertaking safeguarding assessments, or coordinating services to protect children and support families.
Parents, carers, professionals and members of the public can contact the Wigan Safeguarding Duty Team when they have concerns about a child’s welfare or need advice about safeguarding matters. The team plays a vital role in ensuring that children are protected, supported and able to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.

PREVENT:
Prevent is part of the Government’s counter-terrorism strategy and aims to safeguard individuals who may be vulnerable to being drawn into extremism or terrorism. The programme works to identify and support those at risk, helping to protect children, young people and adults from radicalisation.
