Year 6 Have been learning about Edvard Munch, his life and his works of art.
We have focused on his painting titled ‘The Scream of Nature’. We looked at his use of colour and lines. Then we have done our own interpretation of the bands of colour and wavy lines to form our own background.
Year 6 have been thinking about our well-being and how special we are.
This is part of our Mental Health Topic. Here are some posters showing our thoughts on the topic.
Can you remember what some of our key words meant?
Limbic, Reptilian, Neo-cortex
Cortisol, Dopamine, Opioids
Biophilia and Propinquity
We have been improving our learning skills by using envoys.
The envoys had to learn the information about the different time periods in the Stone Age (Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic). It was then our job to question the envoys, listen to their information and write notes to help support our independent work.
We had to gain a deeper understanding of how life improved for man from using caves for shelter to making portable huts to more established homes; from being hunter/gatherers to growing crops and keeping animals domestically and about the types of tools they made, what they were made from and why they were needed.
We have been learning about our circulatory system. Look at our drawings of the heart and simplified circulatory system.
We have been thinking about Faith: what it means to have faith in something or someone; people of faith and faith as a Christian.
Have a look at our mind maps about this topic:
What are your ideas about faith? Send us a comment and add to our understanding of faith.
Have a look at the work we have been doing to incorporate electricity into a design for a moving toy car. First we had to make working circuits. Then we worked on making a frame for our vehicle. Next we focussed on putting a circuit with a motor onto the frame.
Year Six are busy rehearsing for our end of year production. We are all looking forward to seeing it- and singing the catchy songs!
How many baked beans are in a tin? We estimated first then counted them. We worked out the mean, mode, median and range. How many beans do you think are in a tin?
Year Six had fun learning about fossils and then creating their own using a clay mould and shells. We became palaeontologists as we then excavated our fossils using a variety of tools.
What can fossils tell us about the past?
