C.E. Primary School
We have been working very hard in our Phonics lessons. During Phonics we learn new sounds that help us read and write lots of new words. The children enjoy playing a range of games to help them learn new sounds. Here are some websites that your child can use at home to help them with their Phonics.
We had a lovely day at Kenyon Hall Farm. I hope you all enjoyed eating your strawberries.
In English we have read the story of ‘The Fish Who Could Wish’. We created an underwater collage to help us retell the story. Do you like them?
In our English we have been learning how to read and write words that have the suffix ‘ing’. Today we had a ‘King of ing’ who could read and write the most ‘ing’ words. Well done!
How many ‘ing’ words does your child know?
Our Maths unit is Place Value. We have worked hard this week recognising, ordering and partitioning 2 digit numbers.
Can your child play this partitioning game? http://www.ictgames.com/sharkNumbers/mobile/index.html
In PSHE we are learning about healthy eating. We spoke about the different food groups and the importance of a balanced diet. We then designed a healthy meal. Can your child tell you which foods are healthy and which are unhealthy?
Lancashire Cricket Club have been in school teaching us how to play cricket. We all tried our best and are looking forward to seeing them again next week.
We have been really busy in Year 1 this week. We have had Curous Critters in school, we have been doing Archery with Mr Garvy and been working really hard in English and Maths.
This week we have been doing research into different ocean creatures. We have found lots of facts about seahorses, crabs and humpback whales. Look at the fantastic fact sheets we have made!
