C.E. Primary School
In our English we have been learning how to read and write words that have the suffix ‘ing’. Today we had a ‘King of ing’ who could read and write the most ‘ing’ words. Well done!
How many ‘ing’ words does your child know?
Our Maths unit is Place Value. We have worked hard this week recognising, ordering and partitioning 2 digit numbers.
Can your child play this partitioning game? http://www.ictgames.com/sharkNumbers/mobile/index.html
In PSHE we are learning about healthy eating. We spoke about the different food groups and the importance of a balanced diet. We then designed a healthy meal. Can your child tell you which foods are healthy and which are unhealthy?
Lancashire Cricket Club have been in school teaching us how to play cricket. We all tried our best and are looking forward to seeing them again next week.
We have been really busy in Year 1 this week. We have had Curous Critters in school, we have been doing Archery with Mr Garvy and been working really hard in English and Maths.
This week we have been doing research into different ocean creatures. We have found lots of facts about seahorses, crabs and humpback whales. Look at the fantastic fact sheets we have made!
Today we made our sandwiches. We followed our designs very carefully, making sure we used all the ingredients we had chosen last week. Then we got to taste them…they were really yummy! Which type of sandwich is your favourite?
This week we have been thinking about which foods are healthy and which are not as healthy. We thought about which ingredients would make a healthy sandwich, and then designed our own sandwiches. We are looking forward to making our sandwiches next week and trying them!
As part of our topic ‘Let’s Go Camping!’ we designed and constructed our very own tents and dens. We had a lot of fun using a range of materials in our teams and we thought about lots of things we would need to go camping.
